Çimsa, the global brand of Sabancı Group, was awarded in the “Sustainability Management” category at the 2024 ISO Green Transformation Award Ceremony held on Wednesday, June 12.
Çimsa received an award in the “Sustainability Management” category at the 2024 ISO Green Transformation Award Ceremony. The ceremony, attended by Mehmet ÖZHASEKİ, the Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, awarded successful projects in the field of environment and sustainability.
Barış Karahüseyin, Assistant General Manager of Gray Cement Marketing & Sales, received the award on behalf of Çimsa. Karahüseyin said the following on the subject:
“As Çimsa, we are very proud that our determination and practices in sustainability management have been recognized. Sustainability is among the core values of our company and it is a great source of motivation for us that the steps we take in this direction are crowned with such a prestigious award.
We declared 2023 as the year of “Gray Cement Product Transformation” within the scope of our sustainability efforts. Thanks to our R&D efforts in parallel with the needs of our customers, 37% of our total gray cement product portfolio was transferred to the low clinker content product group. Thus, we pioneer the development of sustainable living spaces by supporting the transition to a low carbon economy. We ‘Shape Today for Tomorrow’ by generating sustainable stakeholder value with our balanced and risk-sensitive governance model. This award is an important milestone in our sustainability journey and we are incentivized to take our efforts even further.”
Companies that were awarded in the “Sustainability Management” category presented evidence that their sustainability management practices are addressed at all management levels, that sustainability has an impact on decision-making processes, that they have developed policies, goals and strategies on sustainability, and that they have established a corporate sustainability approach. Companies that demonstrated that their activities make positive contributions to society and all stakeholders were evaluated in this category.
