Targets that cover greenhouse gas emissions from Çimsa’s operations and are in line with the 1.5°C scenario were registered following the completion of the validation studies carried out by the Science Based Targets Initiative.
Accordingly, Çimsa aims to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 product emission intensity by 42.1% by 2033 as of 2021 as the base year, and Scope 3 product emission intensity for purchased clinker and cement by 43.4% by 2033 as of 2022.
Çimsa CEO Umut Zenar stated that he is very pleased that SBTi, established in partnership with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Wildlife Fund (WWF), has registered Çimsa’s carbon reduction targets. Emphasizing that Çimsa prioritizes efforts to reduce carbon emissions in all its activities and investments carried out to establish sustainable living spaces and shape the future as of today, Umut Zenar made the following assessments:
