The Mersin Plant of Çimsa, one of the global brands of the Sabancı Group, achieved a significant success within the scope of the International Concrete Sustainability Council certification system implemented by the Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association. After independent audits, the Mersin Plant once again confirmed its superior performance in sustainability with a “Gold” level “CSC Certificate”.
The Mersin Plant of Çimsa, a Sabancı subsidiary, was awarded the “Gold” level “CSC Certificate” following independent audits carried out by KGS, the International Concrete Sustainability Council Certification Body. This certificate also recognized Çimsa Mersin Plant’s compliance with international norms in terms of resource utilization as a producer by meeting the management, environmental, social and economic criteria. Çimsa became one of the first three plants in the Turkish cement industry to be certified at the “Gold” level with this achievement.
Umut Zenar, CEO of Çimsa, stated that they continued to work to achieve the “CSC Certificate” at the “Gold” level awarded by the International Concrete Sustainability Council Certification Body KGS for their other facilities and said:

About the Concrete Sustainability Council
International organizations operating in the concrete and cement industry convened in 2013 to develop a responsible source certification system. As a result, the Concrete Sustainability Council, based in Switzerland, was established in 2016. The Turkish Ready Mixed Concrete Association (THBB) became a member of the Council and a “Regional System Operator” in 2017. The most effective institution in the quality control of concrete Quality Assurance System (KGS) was also appointed as a “Certification Body”.
CSC is introducing a globally recognized product “Certification System” for the concrete sector and concrete components such as cement and aggregates. The Council offers the opportunity to reward the sustainability-oriented work of concrete, aggregate and cement producers with a reliable, independent, data-based certification system. The CSC Certification System examines producers in terms of sustainability under the main headings of Management, Environment, Economy and Social issues. Thus, it is ensured that producers achieve high standards in terms of sustainability. Manufacturers who are entitled to receive this certificate also have a great advantage in Green Building Rating systems, which have become increasingly important especially in recent years.
