Çimsa announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2024

Çimsa increased its turnover by 11% to TL 5,324 million in the first quarter of the year compared to last year

Çimsa, which is prominent for its energy efficiency and sustainability investments, increased its turnover by 11% in the first quarter of the year compared to the same period last year, from TL 4,798 million to TL 5,324 million. Net profit increased by 16% to TL 396 million.

Çimsa, the global brand of Sabancı Group, announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2024. Having successfully continued its transformation from a cement company to a building materials company and product diversification, Çimsa’s turnover in the first quarter of the year was 5,324 million TL while its net profit was 396 million TL.

Stating that the transformation process carried out by Çimsa in recent years has reflected positively on the company’s financials, Çimsa CEO Umut Zenar said:

“Çimsa has two main priorities. The first is to make its core business more global and profitable. The second is to successfully continue to transform from cement to building materials and product diversification. CAC acts as a bridge in this transformation. CAC contributes to the company’s sustainability goals, innovation efforts and competitiveness in the global market. With the completion  and commissioning of our capacity increase investment in Mersin, our Mersin Plant has strengthened its position as the only plant in the world producing gray cement, white cement and CAC. The Sabancı Technology Center in Munich is an important actor in Çimsa’s transformation journey. With the commissioning of our new production line at the Mersin Plant, we became one of the three main players in the world in the CAC market. We will reach CAC and special product customers directly from Munich to make the most efficient use of this extra capacity. We are leading the Turkish cement and building materials sector in innovation with our value-added customer-specific products such as Flycrete produced from CAC.”.

Emphasizing that the company focussed on minimizing their environmental impact by increasing their initiatives in energy efficiency and renewable energy in all activities within the framework of their vision of doing business on a global scale, Zenar continued as follows:

“In this context, we have increased our capacity to use alternative fuels from the average in Türkiye 3 years ago to 30% today with the investments we made in our Eskişehir and Afyon factories. As of the end of 2024, we will provide 25% of the annual electricity consumption of our Eskişehir factory with ‘Waste Heat Recovery’. While the rate of electricity generated from renewable energy sources was 54% at the end of 2023, we aim to increase this rate to more than 80% by 2030. The solar power plant recently inaugurated at our Bunol plant in Spain is a concrete example of these efforts. In addition, thanks to our R&D efforts in parallel with the needs of our customers, 37% of our total gray cement product portfolio was transferred to the low clinker content product group. All these investments enable us to both optimize our business processes and take responsibility for a sustainable future with environmentally friendly practices.”
